The theme of tonight’s Bear meeting was cooking. Originally, the leader wanted to meet at the church kitchen but it was booked so instead everyone came to our house. There were three adults to supervise.
First they made pizza. They took buttermilk rolls and pressed them out to make the crust. They added sauce and then customized their pizzas with cheese, sausage and pepperoni.
While the pizzas were baking, the scouts began to prepare brownie batter. Everyone practiced cracking an egg. Anyone who cracked his without getting any shell into the dish and without making a mess on himself got to crack a second egg to add to the batter.
By the end of the meeting, the scouts had made, baked and eaten their pizzas. Unfortunately, they only got to make the brownie batter because they ran out of time.
Meanwhile, Walker and I had a meeting of our own at Starbucks with Kim, a good book and our knitting. That’s the nice thing about living in the same town. By the time we got home, the house had cleared out and there was no trace of any baking whatsoever. I was impressed!
One of my great memories with Mason is cracking eggs.
Frankie and Camikle want to know if it’s called a bear meeting because they are bear cub scouts? Duh!
