Sixteen!
Walker is eager to join the driving force and has done all that he needs to do to get his driver’s license. That magical day will be December 11th, 2018. (In Indiana, driver’s licenses are granted 90 days after the 16th birthday and then privileges are graduated. First he will be able to drive just siblings and then 270 days later, he will be able to drive friends.) In the meantime, he was happy to drive us to school.
We opened presents at home before we went out for dinner. Mason surprised Walker with a few new movies such as The Matrix, The Dark Crystal, Serenity, a Lic’s gift card, a new golf shirt and a slim travel umbrella. Bill and I sneaked in a few bucks into some packaging noodle dishes for him. Walker has his sights set on the Apple Series 4 Watch which goes on sale later this week so money was his preference.
We drove back to Owensboro to Eat at Bill’s for dinner. The food at this restaurant is amazing. They specialize in seafood but have options for carnivores too. Walker chose halibut cheeks in a coconut curry sauce for his entrée. (Did you know halibut had cheeks? They are cut from the head of the halibut and have a texture and flavor similar to a scallop.) Bill had walleye, I had shrimp and grits and Mason had NY strip steak.
Walker and Mason had dessert there as well. I brought candles to add to Walker’s but he requested I not embarrass him. Instead, he humored me with a few photos outside with them. Here he is 61 and backbreaking after dinner.
Happy 16th birthday to Walker!
