Bishop Siegel confirmed Walker tonight at St. John the Baptist. By his side was Maria, a favorite teacher of his from SJB. I was not surprised that he asked her to sponsor him as they formed a special relationship over the three years he was her student.
The preparation for confirmation in this area is a two year process and most of the confirmands were tenth graders or around that age. Walker chose St. Bernard de Montjoux, the patron of climbers, for his saint name.
Lots of pictures were taken before we headed off to dinner.
Maria and her family joined Gramma and Papa and us for dinner at Walker’s favorite hibachi restaurant, Zuki. Because there were eleven of us, we had a large table to ourselves and perhaps a better show complete with fire.
The chef up pieces of zucchini and tried to flip them into our mouths. While I tend to be uncoordinated with games like this, I did catch the piece and even better, Maria captured it on camera.
We had good times all around the table.
It was wonderful to celebrate the sacrament with family and friends.
