Togetherness

This has been a really productive week with the boys at camp. It’s been a good mix of to dos and togetherness with a lot of fun sprinkled in.  Bill and I spent a lot of time together just talking (without interruption) which was an awesome treat.

Tuesday night after dinner we took a great walk along the river at sunset.  We spotted these unusual insects called mayflies

If you wish to see them in action, watch my quick video.

We also caught up on a TV series on Amazon Prime called Bosch.  It seems like we routinely binge watch this one about this time of the year.  We had viewed a few from season two, but we blitzed through the rest Sunday and Monday night.   Now we have to wait for season three.

Bill and I also took advantage of the opportunity to dine out.  We had Mexican, Thai, and international comfort food at a new restaurant in Evansville.

I like just looking around at the art that people create with their ingenuity and imagination. We are sitting on those benches in the photo above.

Wouldn’t this just be a great way to display balls of yarn?

I don’t know if I’ll ever build my own fairy garden but I do find others’ so interesting.  It was really hot in the sun but we roamed the paths and looked at the gardens for a few hours.

Nearby is the Zappos outlet. It’s a real outlet with serious markdowns.  You have to look carefully at what you buy to make sure there are no defects but great deals can be found.  It’s probably a good thing we don’t live closer or my closet might have a lot of shoes.

Dinner in Louisville was at Ramsi’s Café on the World.  This is one of those restaurants that had been on my list to try for years. The menu is international and eclectic.  We weren’t sure how that would go over so we waited to try it ourselves first.  We both enjoyed our meals and as the palates in our family expand, I know this will be a restaurant that could become a favorite.  The restaurant was right down the street from this independent bookstore.  We didn’t get to go in but I do love bookstores and it’s been a long time since we have been in one dedicated to children’s literature.

Finally, I got some housework done.  Before the boys left, they sorted through a ton of toys that they were ready to part with.  The goal was to donate them to either our church’s thrift shop or to the Mother to Mother consignment sale.  In either case, they had to be bagged so all the pieces were together.  I rifled through a lot of bins and drawers to find missing parts. Bill sorted the four tubs of hamster cage parts into workable pieces and I also bagged and delivered those to the humane society.

It felt great to get those out of the house for a good cause.
