Regrettably, procrastination might be my middle name. I once again waited until the very last minute to complete my WIP challenge for this month. I only started working on it yesterday when Bill was at work.
Last year in my birthday box, Laynie gave me this T-shirt from a conference she attended. White attire and little children are a tough pair. I decided to open up the shirt and turn it into fabric placemats. The front would be a neat palette for art and doodles and the back of the shirt has lots of inspiring and encouraging adjectives to bring to life with color.
It reads: Tenacity grit guts fortitude endurance and being brave and we just keep getting up and showing up anyway.
I cut the shirts as large as I could around the graphic, backed each shirt with tricot interfacing, and then added fabric borders to make them wide enough. The backing fabric is from stash based off the Little Miss book series. I sandwiched them with batting and used a Hera marker to draw a grid for straight line quilting. I have to steam them to get those lines to disappear but for now they are done.
I’m so happy with how they turned out and I’ll be adding them to the gift box for just the right recipients.
