Today was finally the day that Walker was due to return from California. Mason was invited to a sleep over party tonight so that meant Bill and I headed to St. Louis alone to pick up our California kid. We decided to make a full day of it and we headed out early. In the spirit of our eclectic interests, our first stop was St. Louis U-Pic-A-Part.
You never know what you might find when you walk up and down the rows and rows of cars. We were hoping for a door panel for Bill’s Highlander but alas, they did not have any Highlanders this time. That’s ok. That’s part of the adventure of bargain shopping.
From there, we went to the St. Louis Art Museum.
Just outside the museum we encountered Claes Oldenburg’s sculpture, Giant Three-Way Plug, Scale A. The museum had two exhibits featured, The Hats of Stephen Jones and Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear, 1715 -2015. The hats were scattered throughout the museum.
This hat was a little big for Bill.
This is a quilt design waiting to happen.
I love sculpture, especially when it reminds me of friends.
After lunch, Bill and I walked the museum grounds. I asked him to pose for a photo with me but each time, he did something silly. Finally, he said he would take a serious one.
Wouldn’t you know, he kept his word but I got silly?
We met Walker at the baggage area. I could tell by his independent stride that he had grown up some while he was away. We had a wonderful dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Anthonino’s, and made our way home to Evansville.
California, thanks for showing our kiddo such a good time. We’re glad to have him home.
Sorry it’s so late in responding to this. We loved having Walker with us. Fortunately Papa had so many fun things planned that he didn’t complain about having to get up in the morning.
Casa Johnson is always available to the Selby boys.
