Passively Aggressive

Today was the day we traveled to Indianapolis to cash in Mason’s St. Nicholas gift and see Jeff Dunham perform.  We made a day of it and got up in time to have a late lunch at P.F. Chang’s and make a stop to the Apple Store in the mall.  Unfortunately, the service at P.F.’s […]

The Secret is out!

I secretly have been knitting for the boys on and off over the last few months but I finally able to let the cat (ok, frog and bunny) out of the bag yesterday.  The frog was an easy choice for Walker, the frog kid.  I knit his first and worked on it a lot during […]

Merry Christmas 2017

We decked the halls a little differently this year and the tree found its home in a new spot.  The nutcrackers stood at attention nearby and that corner of the house felt very cozy.  Last night we went to Midnight Mass and took a few photos on a timer. That always allows for some fun […]

Lit!

One hundred fifty luminaries were set up along the walkways leading to the doors of church. Once again, many scout hands make light work. We tossed in a seminarian for good measure. Of course, night time photos are difficult but these capture a bit of the Christmas eve glow.

Hanging out

As they have done in the past, Mason and Bill went shopping for this year’s ornaments.  They selected a dated Precious Moments and Wonder Woman for me, Deadpool and a trumpet (in honor of his first year in band) for Mason, and Super Mario Yoshi  and the Gingerbread Joker for Walker. It’s fun to see […]

Camping at Camp

The weather was crisp for a weekend of camping at Camp Ondessonk but that did not deter the boys from having fun. Today’s group included Cole, Luke, Mason, Bill, Blake, Blake’s dad, Triston and Triston’s dad. They arrived Friday night and stayed in the unit of Garnier.  Hiking, exploring, skipping stones and tossing rocks were […]

Gifts of Granola

About a week ago I started baking granola to give as our Christmas treat.  Usually the baking begins about the third week of December closer to when the kids are getting out of school but this year my motivation was a gift swap with my knitting group scheduled for today.  I wish I had a […]

Ad Altare Dei

Today Walker and Triston completed their Ad Altare Dei journey with a blessing from Father Tom after mass.  Ad Altare Dei is a Boy Scout religious emblem designed to help scouts ages 13 and 14 study the sacraments in depth.  Ideally, a group of scouts would get together with two leaders over the course of […]

Dirty Tricks

Tonight was Bill’s office Christmas party. Every year they have a gift exchange.  Some people call it Dirty Santa or Yankee Swap.  It’s taken a few years for me to fully grasp how competitively they play and how seriously they take it, but now I’m in the know.  There are some key characteristics of a […]

Ruffles for Sophia

Laynie picked out yarn for Sophia when she was here visiting and requested a little cowl for Sophia to wear for her Christmas program. I crocheted these by holding two strands doubled. Basically, I unrolled the entire skein of yarn, found the midpoint and cut. Then I stretched each strand open to make crocheting […]
