Destination Yosemite

With a very quick turn around after our Chicago adventure, we packed up and headed off to Yosemite last night for Joey and Mia’s wedding.   We flew from St. Louis to Sacramento and landed around dinnertime.  We had a fast dinner at Baja Fresh and began the long and windy drive to our hotel in […]

Prepping for Camp

Just in the nick of time, we got the sashes for Camp Ondessonk completed.  The rest of the sewing for camp was done in the car on the drive to the airport. These are the faces that motivated me and thanked me for my help making it all worthwhile.

Until Next time

This beautiful view greeted us on the last morning.  We packed up our bags and fueled up our bellies at Chicago Waffles. The boys both ordered the decadent Chicago’s Waffles Best, a Belgium waffle topped with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, blueberry compote, candied walnuts, chocolate chips, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. You’ll Be Back

The last two clues of my Mother’s Day celebration unfolded today. We started quite early with breakfast at Yolk followed by 8 AM Mass at Old St. Mary’s Church.  On our way back toward the hotel, we wandered through Grant Park and danced around the Agora statues. The lakefront was bustling with bikers participating in […]

Unraveling the Mystery

My Mother’s Day gift was presented as a series of clues and thus, I’ll tag the steps of our Memorial Day weekend with those references. We started off super early on the road with a stop at Starbucks.  That was the *$ from clue #1.   I knew were were going north to Chicago because clue […]

Last Hurrah of 6th Grade

It was the usual hustle and bustle on the last day of school at St. John.  First we had our last school mass of the year and then the students went back to their classrooms to tie up loose ends.  I helped set up for the spring carnival and came back just after lunch to […]

Sash Sewing

With our first weeks of camp on the immediate horizon, the goal of finishing Mason’s lodge sashes for Camp Ondessonk gained priority.  These sashes are quite the undertaking.  When I pulled out the materials from our last big sewing session, I was delighted to discover we were more than halfway there.  We just had the […]

She hears  a tiny voice saying what She sees  dirty socks on the floor She wants A nice salad made just for her She is  not only unique, but irreplaceable.   She believes honesty is important She feels  like […]

Treated Like A Queen on Bill’s Birthday

Tonight was the Mother’s Day Banquet/Court of Honor.  A number of the fathers worked with the (mostly younger) scouts to prepare salad, pasta and dessert.  While it is wonderful that they prepared dinner, one of my favorite parts was listening to the senior scouts and the fathers teaching them etiquette like how to serve to […]

They Clued Me In

Let me go on record to say that my husband goes above and beyond to help the boys treat me to a fabulous Mother’s Day each and every year.  This year was no exception.  The day was very low key and simple which was perfect for me.  Instead of the usual breakfast in bed routine, […]
