Covering A Lot of Ground

This weekend is the big annual AAP meeting. It’s been a great part of our Fall tradition to travel as a family to the conference.  Back in the day, Bill attended meetings from dawn until dusk while the kids and I explored the destination. In the evening we participated in whatever family activities the AAP […]

Fully Licensed

For months and months, we have been reminded of the date December 11, 2018 as today is the soonest Walker could get his driver’s license.  Months ago he completed all the prerequisites including the written and behind the wheel tests so all that remained was presenting the paperwork and paying the fee. Bill scooted out […]

Oh Hello, School Year

This morning came much too quickly for our family.  We had an amazing summer filled with loads of travel, camping and adventure and we were on the go a lot.  With camps just wrapping up last week for both boys, we could have used a few more home days to prepare and rest up for […]

Already?

Where did the summer go?  Their bags were (over)packed and ready to go.  The school was abuzz. Mason’s fourth grade teacher is Mrs. Rogers.  She is friendly and kind and word on the street is that she can do the splits! Mason was one of the first students to spy his music teacher’s homage to […]

A Fencing Demo

Third grade marks the official start of 4-H so even though Mason has been attending meetings for over a year now, he is finally able to fully participate as a member of the Paradise Club.  Tonight he did his first demonstration about a topic dear to his heart—fencing!  He and Bill practiced over and over […]

It’s Camporee Time!

After the official crossover to Boy Scouts, Walker was eager to sign up for the Burrell Woods Camporee in Carmi, Illinois.  It is his first time going on a scout campout without Bill.  The camporee is a weekend gathering of about 300 scouts from southeastern Illinois and southwest Indiana.  We will all be eager to […]

Sandals are coming!

The first pedicure of the season always feels so good.  It’s still a little cool to go fully in flip flops so my pedicure socks still come in handy.  I put them on after I got home and wouldn’t you know, they were a perfect match for my polish.  Lucky coincidence!

Absolved

Today was finally Mason’s First Reconciliation.  He had been preparing for several months.  Mason made a special book with the Ten Commandments and an example of each in his own words and the Act of Contrition.  As a special part of the celebration, Mason received an envelope with letters written from many friends and family […]
