Well, the forecast was indeed correct. The snow came yesterday and started to fall heavily just as school was letting out. We knew another snow day was in the cards for the kids but we didn’t expect Bill’s clinic to be closed as well.
Thankfully, we had plenty of fun projects from Christmas to pass the time. Take Mason’s, for example. He had a chance to make his very own chewing gum.
He had to heat the ingredients, mix them, kneed them and then cut them into pieces. It was a messy job and much harder than we expected. Gum is just so sticky!
He gave it a little try.
And then he shared some with Walker.
It was pretty good but the kids might confess to preferring commercial gum in the future.
Walker’s project was to put together a Useless Machine Kit.
Soldering is one of the skills that Walker has been practicing. He got a special clamp that holds the parts for him leaving his fingers free to manipulate the soldering iron and the solder.
After a few hours of work, the Useless Machine was finished. Here it is in action:
Not a useless machine – clearly it is a turner-off-er.
So cool!
Very inventive gifts!
Okay… the useless machine is SO funny. I am laughing!
