No matter how many times I travel from Los Angeles (or the West Coast, for that matter), I always forget that flying home is an all day experience. I purposely scheduled our flight home for noon thinking we would have time in the morning to meet my parents at their house or giggle with the girls in their room.
I was wrong! Even though we were up early, our free time disappeared. By the time we had breakfast, got to Trader Joe’s to pick up provisions for the flight, gassed up the rental and returned it and headed to the airport, it was 10 am and the line for security stretched through the terminals. We did make it to our gate some time to spare but not with nearly the amount of time I would have guessed.
That being said, we did get to have breakfast with the girls at our hotel, thanks to the fact that they were staying there too. Parting was really tough. No one in my family wanted to leave and at least one child was campaigning to live with his aunt so he could attend a top rated high school in Orange County. I guess those sad feelings were the mark of a really fantastic trip.

Hey! We are going to California on vacation in July. What would you recommend for a California destination?
