Today Mason had a private lesson with a batting coach. He repeatedly said Mason was a strong kid and a fast learner.
These are the tips he shared with Mason:
How to use the lower body
.:Swing with lower body.
.:Squash the bug. (pretend there is a bug under the back foot and swivel.)
.:Line up the front foot with home plate
.:Take out the stride. It only helps with timing.
.:Toes should be parallel or pointed in (pigeon-toed) but not turned out.
.:Load and transfer the weight.
.:When the pitcher shows you his butt, you show him yours.
.:Be still, not busy.
.:Watch the chin. Remember, Ike and Mike.
.:Feet, hands, load and go!
Homework
1. To toe the line until you can do it without thinking
2. Once toeing the line is automatic, add the bat, feet and hands, out of the box and repeat.
3. Dry batting
Thanks, Darren, for all the tips!
