Hello, Nashville!
For Mason’s birthday, we got tickets to for David Blaine on tour at Ryman Auditorium. The show started at 8 but we drove down early so we could kick around town and have a nice dinner.
We explored another video game arcade. Similar to the one we visited in Chicago, they also had a pretty good assortment of pinball machines and arcade games set up for free play. That was fun because it meant I could try my hand at new ones and old favorites without worrying about depositing quarters or tokens. I forgot how much I used to enjoy Centipede, Millipede and Pac Man used to be.
When my brain started to hurt, I pulled out my sock. I’m going to forever associate this pair of socks with video games, baseball and summer travel.
After dinner at Burger Republic, we had plenty of time to roam around the people lined streets of downtown Nashville. It was Friday night and the bars were hopping.
Outside of Ryman, we posed for a few fun photos.
Mason got a new hat and a deck of cards as his souvenirs.
According to the website, David’s one-man show is his unique brand of entertainment, promising to be an unforgettable interactive experience that both shocks and amuses. Blaine continues to push the limits and attempt new feats for the first time live in front of his audiences. No two shows will be exactly the same.
David opened up the show with a pretty intense act that involved his lips, a needle and a spool of thread. That was just one example of the shock and awe experience we had. I had to cover my eyes more than once but I did enjoy it. Mason was mesmerized. He performed well and put on a long show. An intermission followed a performance by Asi Wind, another magician who had some pretty good tricks up his sleeve. Pun intended. He could simultaneously solve two Rubik’s cubes, one in each hand, without looking.
The show wrapped up about 10:30 pm and we made our way home, wondering how David did many of the things we saw tonight.
Just love each of your faces!
