We planned a field trip for Mason today. He asked it to be a surprise except for a few clues along the way. Bill gave him two:
Drive, then drive, then drive.
One more than J.
When we got off the freeway in Indianapolis at the same off ramp as IKEA, Mason thought we might be going shopping. I is close to J but that was not the plan. Instead, we had a quick lunch at Portillo’s which was also at the same off ramp. Portillo’s is famous for Chicago hot dogs but their menu includes burgers, salads, pasta and ribs.
We got back in the car and drove a short distance to an industrial area and pulled into the parking lot for K1 Speed. K is one away from J.
We raced three times, ten laps each. Bill and Mason were much better at it than I but even though I finished last every time, I showed improvement. LOL!
Between races, we played billiards—Bill and I against Mason. It was a very close game.
After our third race, we drove south to Zip City USA. For a flat rate, we had unlimited access to indoor trampoline, rock wall, zip lining, ropes course and laser tag.
The zips weren’t long but as you can see by the blur that is Mason, one could gain speed. We did the ropes course and played a round of laser tag with a large group.
Bill and Mason jousted and discovered that getting out of the pit was the greatest challenge. After about 90 minutes, we had our fill and we drove home, stopping in Bloomington at Esan Thai for dinner. It was indeed a good day to drive and drive and drive.
We have some K1 Speed fans here, but I have only been a spectator!
