Good morning, San Francisco! We are here for the weekend for Clusterfest and plan to take the city by storm and giggles. But first, breakfast at Mo’z Café was a quick walk from our hotel, Parc 55.
Mine was an everything bagel with cream cheese, sprouts, tomato and red onion and Mason’s was a short stack with bacon.
We had a few hours before Mason and Bill’s event began so we headed on foot toward Union Square. When I first started working for Westin Hotels & Resorts, my office was at the Westin St. Francis. I showed Mason the private side entrance where the elevator took me to the 13th floor.
From there we took a quick walk to China Town, stopping for boba tea along the way.
We wanted to go to Ghirardelli Square by trolley so we walked to a nearby stop. Unfortunately, all the trolleys were full.
Some city blocks are stair stepped. Pedestrians walk toward the wall and descend stairs. Cars are out of luck.
At the corner of Mason and California, we caught a Lyft to the Wharf.
Down by Ghirardelli Square, Mason found the beach.
We were right at the edge of Fort Mason so we insisted he climb behind the fence to take this photo.
The California wildflowers were in full bloom.
We took a walk along the pier to see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz in the distance.
Then we walked along Jefferson Street toward Fisherman’s Wharf.
Mason found a painted rock!
Coit Tower was in the distance. We walked a little further to catch a Lyft to grab lunch at Tacorea, a burrito place with a Korean twist.
Bill had the Best Breakfast Burrito Ever,
Mason had the Tater Tot Nachos,
and I had El Super Burrito, vegetarian style. These amazing burritos were proof that the tortilla matters.
When I lived in San Francisco, I used to take the 38 Geary bus to and from work. Just like then, this was the first bus in a cluster of them.
We took a short walk back to Market Street where we explored a little more. Mason got to test his, and all the other style, Razer keyboards at this retail store
and Bill did a little footwear window shopping himself. It was nice to be in a big city where stores like these were common. Then we headed back to the hotel so the boys could rest up before Clusterfest began and I could plan my yarn adventure.
Because the weather was so glorious, I opted to walk and explore Market Street. Along the way, I stumbled upon the Orpheum Theater and Clusterfest.
Eventually, I arrived at Imagiknit, a quaint yarn store in the Castro District.
Falling victim of inspiration overload, I spent more two hours there and didn’t get to the other store I had intended to visit.
Thankfully, I only walked out with two skeins of yarn (one which already has a plan) and an ergonomics knitting book.
Traveling back, I popped into Whole Foods and picked up a beverage and a new brand of my current obsession—grass fed whole milk Greek yogurt. Not surprising, Whole Foods in SF had so many more options than we do at home.
After dropping my purchases, I ventured out for dinner at Old Siam for a spicy eggplant dish. My day’s activities were done but the boys were just gearing up! More about theirs in one dedicated post soon.
I was fun to see all the Mason signs! I am impressed that you worked in SF! The biggest town I ever lived in was Minneapolis and now that community is way to large for me!!
