Advent calendars have always been part of Christmas festivities. In the past, the boys have each had Lego Star Wars calendars but this year, I decided Bill and I should jump on the bandwagon.
I discovered a special skein of self-striping yarn that was dyed in such a way that there were 24 unique stripes of color, one for each day of the month. The skein was split so that a knitter could complete a pair of identical socks by the 25th day if she kept up knitting a stripe a day. I started in California by knitting the toes so I was ready today to add my first stripe.
I didn’t want Bill to be left out of the advent loop so when I found a cheese calendar, I knew it would be perfect. I actually bought four of them in November, wrapped them up in brown paper with big DO NOT TOUCH signs and kept them in the garage fridge. Somehow they survived the three weeks of anticipation. (For the record, I kept two for us and gifted two to friends.)
This year Mason got a Marvel Character Funko Pop calendar
and Walker got a Lego Harry Potter edition. It promises to be a very fun December!
