Boonville Sights

After putting Mason on the 7:20 bus for Holiday World, Bill and I picked up coffee at Starbucks and headed to Boonville for a walk. As we rounded the corner downtown, I spied the Holiday World bus.  As a joke, we texted Mason that we were headed to the next stop (Boonville High) to blow him kisses.  He tried to convince us that it wasn’t him or his bus, but we knew otherwise.  We parked our car on the main road where we knew his bus would pass and we waited. Just to goad him a little more, Bill continued to text, threatening that we were going to stand and wave.  We felt him cringing at the mere thought of this.  When the bus actually passed, I took this picture and sent it to him.

We parked near the Tastee Freeze and started walking west. Our goal was just to explore and see how far we could get along city streets with sidewalks. At the intersection of the cross streets, we turned north and walked up and down “the fingers” ultimately making a zigzag pattern in the downtown area.

Bill and I both like to look at houses and we notice different details. He pointed out the bottle tree in that house (above) and I admired the purple door and all the flowers.

Right next door was a house with a screened in porch. He zoomed in on the full bookshelves by the door, a sight he recognized from his mom’s house.

Back on the main street this message spoke to me, although Bill did comment red and yellow are not politically correct terms for people.

The scrolls on this house reminded me so much of my Oma’s house.  I used to climb hers when I was little.

Despite being in a very urban area, we stumbled across this moose right in front of someone’s house.

I took a quick pass by City Stitch’s new location and peered in the windows.  I’ll have to visit some time during regular business hours.

There are a lot of historic homes with great bones in Boonville.  This house has a lot of potential but needs a lot of work.

In all of my passes through Boonville, I had neither seen nor heard of this Warrick County Museum.  When Covid is not of great concern, I will return to visit.

This home was an architectural gem.

Our total walk was 7.39 miles in 2:27.  The weather couldn’t have been better and makes us eager for Fall to arrive.

The rest of our Sunday was productive and relaxing.
