Last night around dinnertime we received an email from Mason’s principal.
“Within the last eight days, we have five students and one athletic coach (two cases were reported this weekend) who have tested positive for COVID-19. The VCHD (Vanderburgh County Health Department) has provided guidelines and instruction on how to navigate the identification of close contacts. As a result of these six positive cases, we now have nearly 130 students, or more than 20% of our student population, who must quarantine.”
The remainder of the email outlined how the school will maintain health and safety of the school family and meet the Catholic educational requirements.
Today Mason has a half day of school. He will meet with each of his teachers for a speedy fourteen minute class to review classroom expectations and then prepare for how virtual learning will take place.
Tuesday through Friday all students will be in virtual learning for full school days from 7:35 am to 2:15 pm via Zoom.
Friday’s Homecoming game will be postponed until later this fall but Mason can still wear spirit dress each day. Should he forego that, he must wear a uniform shirt for class.
Over the course of the week, administration will evaluate the situation and we will be advised of next week’s schedule when it’s known.
