Memorial Monday

I Spy Tagged

It was nice to have a three day weekend.  In some ways, it didn’t feel like a long weekend because everyone is home together so much of the time but since Bill has been working more again, it was a treat to have his company.

The morning was delightful.  I read my morning meditations and went for an hour long walk.  Then I drove to St. John’s to meet Jessica, Zach and Owen. I had the baby’s gifts wrapped up and ready—one of my I Spy quilts with my new label attached and the teething rosary. I arrived after the baptism started and sat in the car drinking my Starbucks and knitting.  I felt like a chameleon enjoying a heavenly sun spot. When the baptism ended, I visited with Jessica and her family for a few minutes in the parking lot. While I would have much preferred to be inside the church for Owen’s baptism, I gratefully accepted this option. I know this will be the last time we will see each other before they move to Japan.

While I was at the baptism, other exciting things were happening. Bill and Mason took a drive to Terre Haute.  Mason will be fifteen next month and getting his driver’s permit.  Bill has been researching safe and reliable SUVs for him with the hopes of purchasing one sooner rather than later. He found a few possibilities up north and they went to look at them in person.  Imagine my surprise to receive a text that we would be adding another vehicle to our insurance policy right away.  More about that later when the car is ready for delivery.

Walker was also productive and spent the day cleaning up his room.  This was exciting from a mother’s perspective.

Lastly, I laid out the quilt and basted it in preparation for the quilting step.

We had a delightful dinner that appealed to the masses—ziti pasta with eggplant and other veggies—and enjoyed an evening together as a family.
