This morning I had the pleasure of catching the morning sunrise and the evening sunset. To do my bit to fight the virus, I volunteered to help with the St. Vincent Covid-19 vaccinations. My shift was 6 am to noon so I was up, showered and out the door very early. I reported to the same place where Bill got his vaccine several days ago. When I arrived I discovered they were fully staffed and did not need me. Bummer! Unfortunately, there was a glitch in the scheduling software which confirmed me as needed instead of as waitlisted. I turned around and went home, much to the boys’ disappointment. Since Bill was working at the Covid clinic, they expected to be home alone. Oh well!
Meanwhile, Bill was scheduled for Covid clinic again. Before starting, he stopped at the office and delivered two Yum boxes. One is holiday treats from everywhere and the other is Italian samples. The treats inside are both sweet and savory and particular to the region or the season. Among other things, the first contained Mocktail Bonbons, Sea Salt & Caramel Fudge, and Salted Egg Yolk Popcorn and the second had Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Bar, Italian Black Truffle Potato Chips, and Lemon & Pepper Taralli. Bill delights in sharing these goodies which marry travel and culinary adventures and he bought us small versions of each as well.
He also hung up some artwork. This lithograph of Charlie Brown and Snoopy was his dad’s and now happily has a place of honor directly across from the door to his office.
He also hung this PAW Patrol stretched panel from Mason. Bill has a special affinity for connecting with kiddos and stays on top of the current characters. His favorite from the series is Chase who is on the case. I bet this wall hanging will be a great conversation starter.
I used my unexpected block of time to finish several languishing projects. The boys got to spend some time with friends. Mason went to the mall with Grant and Walker had a meet up to tour Christmas lights with friends. When Bill got home, we worked on the puzzle. Dinner was easy as we polished off the last of the Chinese food with refreshed vegetables tossed in. I am so grateful that Bill loves leftovers as much as I do!
Tomorrow is Monday and the start of the second full week of the break. Yay!
