Today was the annual walk along the river. Before we went for the walk, we wrapped up the Bully Free Week with a pep rally. The choir sang Hakuna Matata which they have been practicing as part of their repertoire for an upcoming competition. Walker is in the back row, left side.
Each class headed out after the assembly to do the one mile walk. There is Mason and Aidan deep in conversation.
Wait, are those grandparents we see? Why, yes, they are in town for someone’s first communion this weekend. Bill and I walked too. If you enlarge the picture below, you will see Mason and Bill up ahead.
Along the river, we met Father Joe, our former pastor whom my parents fondly remember. That lucky man lives right along the river.
Papa got a quick squeeze and Grandma noted that Walker has now surpassed her in height. Yes, it’s true.
Along the river in Newburgh, I took so many pictures of the flowering trees. The red buds and dogwoods are such a characteristic sign of Spring here.
After school, we decided to head to Owensboro for dinner. First we stopped at the newly renovated park that so many people are talking about. It was built to span ages zero to twelve and there are sections where each age group can safely play. There are plenty of places to climb, sit and have a deep conversation. Some folks even knit by the playground.
It was indeed a beautiful day in the neighborhood on both sides of the Ohio River.
Love the picture of your parents with Fr. Joe. Father has a way of never knowing a stranger, even those he only sees random times through the years. I know my in-laws feel fondly about him as well with the times they’ve shared with him with Baptisms and special Masses.
