We carved out this evening to celebrate Walker’s birthday as a family since Mason is working tomorrow.
Walker’s choice for dinner was sushi and appetizers from Wasabi.
We ordered edamame, fried calamari, vegetable tempura and a variety of rolls: Spicy Girl, Pink Lady, Baked Winter Roll, Cherry Blossom, Crazy Flying Dragon, and Lee’s Special Roll. Dessert was red velvet cake.
Afterwards it was time for presents and funny stories about best laid plans for traditions which included letters written. Bill kept it light and I got sentimental.
Dear Walker,
Most of the time when people say, “You’re how old?” you can expect an insult to follow. In this case, it’s truly an interrogative, an incredulous question your mom is asking of the son she feels she just gave birth to…yesterday.
I always thought and believed your dad and I had 18 years to pack your bags with all the things you would need to head off into the world.
You indeed have integrity, curiosity, smarts, a kind heart, a sense of compassion, passion and dedication.
I hope you go far in this world and that you continue to mature into the person we love and admire.
I love you.
Mom
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY WALKER!! I also feel as though it was just yesterday that Walker was a small guy!
It happens way too fast!
