The Secret Santa gifts shift in middle school to edible options. Although I tried to steer Walker away from the candy aisle, he ended up with a gift bag full of sweets. 
Davis, his friend, wanted to make a Sour Patch cake for his Secret Santa. Somewhere he and Walker cooked up the idea of using our giant cupcake pan. Davis purchased all the ingredients and the two of them baked and decorated the cake at our house after school. Davis did most of the work but left the icing to Walker, a task he took on with gusto.
