Yesterday was a pretty quiet day around here. Schmitt arrived promptly at 7:30 am to begin working on creating the zones for our home. They turned off the heat and as a result, it got rather cold in here. Thankfully, I had plenty of knitwear to keep me warm. I puttered around the house doing laundry, wrapping presents and staying out of their way. Meanwhile, Bill worked a full day, starting at 7 am in his office and then from 1-9 pm at the Covid clinic. He was more than pleased to come home to a warm and toasty house with zoned heat.
On the knitting front, I opened a few more days packages and started adding those to my shrug. I have looked forward each day to picking through the little packages to find the daily surprise. In addition, I’ve been making lots of little coffee cozies.
Today I had to be home for another service call by 8:30 AM but I wanted to do a few errands too. I dropped off Mason at 7, picked up a Target curbside order, shopped at a grocery store AND got coffee from Starbucks. I felt accomplished!
I came home to find packages on the door. With the pandemic, there are incredible delays with shipping. The USPS is delivering multiple times a day and they still can’t keep up. As fast as they arrive, I am wrapping. Because Mason and Walker are taking finals this week, they are in school for fewer hours. I do enjoy the extra time with them in the afternoon but I feel the crunch to get my elf work done in a very condensed amount of time.
This evening Walker got some particularly good news from Santa Clara University. This was the first college acceptance in California and one Walker is particularly excited about.
Since Bill had another 1-9 PM shift at the Covid clinic, we shared snapshots of the welcome video with him. When he got home, he and Walker worked on a biology paper. Bill’s stamina and energy reserve after a full day of work, literally 7 AM until 10:30 PM, are exemplary. I don’t know how he does it, but I’m glad he does. We have just a few more days until Christmas break and everyone is excited to get to Friday.
I am getting a little teary for Walker. I am sure he is thrilled and you are proud. I am remembering the joy when my kids received these notices!!
