It’s Fall, y’all and officially Halloween today! We’ve had a series of activities over the last three nights and ironically tonight feels the least festive of them all.
Monday was Trunk or Treat at SJB. Mason volunteered and had a blast. As Trunk or Treat wrapped up, we learned that our county was preemptively shifting trick or treating to Tuesday due to a very wet and rainy forecast for Wednesday.
Bill carved 20 pumpkins which we lit Sunday, Monday and last night. They were nice and bright for trick or treaters but Mason was not one of them. He was competing at his last speech meet. As far as evenings go, last night was indeed the best ever with temps in the high 60s and we had a lot of traffic at the door.
This morning I greeted the ghosts and pumpkins knowing that the rain was coming
and the leaves would likely be all over the lawn.
Mid-morning fellow Spice Girls and I serenaded the staff and students while dishing up pumpkin fluff and other ghoulish vittles. I took a pumpkin veggie tray to Mason’s class party and then school was dismissed.
The rain came steadily this afternoon but lightened up to a drizzle around 6 pm. Mason went trick or treating with a few friends in another neighborhood but no one darkened our doorstep.
It was a rather anticlimactic end to a holiday that is usually so energized. I hope next year’s Halloween is short and sweet!
You should come to Ankeny…with a little change in your costume’s print out you could be a Tones spice girl as it is manufactured right here!!
