You wouldn’t know it from the look on Walker’s face, but tonight was the exciting Spring band concert comprised of Catholic middle students from all the schools on the East Side.
Joseph and Walker were seated together. They are the two sixth graders from our school who play the baritone.
I love the fact that someone else’s kid was aware of my camera, never mind that I don’t have a clue who he was.
Walker has had a great year in band. For the most part, the hour of weekly practice has not been a chore. He plays well and I have enjoyed hearing him practice while I make dinner, fold laundry or work in the kitchen. The performance tonight was especially enjoyable because I finally heard baritone music I have heard played over and over harmoniously played with all the other instruments. There is definitely something special about a full orchestral performance and I am so proud of Walker.
As you should be.
We own a baritone (for home practice)….but Carolyn plays the euphonium at school…..I never even heard of it before…have you?
