At the Soul Challenge, Walker won a raffle prize to the new indoor party zone that just recently here called Xtreme Party Zone. With Mason away, I thought Walker might like to explore it with his friend, Joseph. The giant pole barn is divided into different areas. The ninja zone involves various physical challenges.

In the human hamster arena, Walker and Joseph climbed into that big ball and were pushed down the hill.
People can also just climb inside the balls and roll around in this court.
In this space, the balls are open on both ends and worn more like inner tubes. At first Walker and Joseph were trying to kick the ball and land it on the other’s head but later Walker decided to tuck himself completely inside one and have Joseph roll him around.
Then it was time to walk on water. The boys climbed inside their globes and then they were inflated around them. Joseph was really adept at running on water. While it was fun, they both said it was really hot inside the inflatables.
This last contraption reminded me of a human washing machine. One at a time, the boys climbed inside. The ride operator increased the rotation speed per their request and the drum spun. It made me a little nauseous to watch them but they seemed to enjoy it.
Did I mention this one involved water? All in all, Joseph and Walker spent two hours here before we called it a day. This was a fun end to Walker’s week of Camp Only Child.
In many ways, it was a quiet week. We didn’t go on any major field trips or trek far from home. It was a very productive week, though, because Walker had a pretty tasty carrot dangled in front of him. When we dropped Mason off at camp on Sunday, Walker was a little forlorn that he was not staying too. His first week is not until the end of June but then he will go again at the end of July for two back-to-back sessions. In between those stints at Ondessonk, he will go on a mission trip and 4-h fair will take place. He has a busy summer an d his 4-H project is yet to be completed.
Picking up on that longing for camp, we challenged him to get his project done this week in exchange for something we knew he would really want: a Saturday night stay over. We offered to register him for that extra night at camp if he could complete the contents for his computer poster this week. register him for that extra night at camp. I’m happy to say it worked!
During the days, Walker did research for the poster and several evenings he and Bill flushed it out. By the time the week was up, he had written up all the parts of his poster and all that was left to do was mount it.
It wasn’t all work though. We dined at a Greek, a Vietnamese and a fish restaurant and we had a movie and Doctor Who marathon. Last night Walker also went before a panel to with his Eagle Scout Project Proposal. It was approved and there will be more on that later.
Now we are ready to get an early start out to camp to meet Mason in the morning.
