The conversation around the dinner table begins with two basic questions:
First, as an homage to Sophia and her conversational practice, we ask everyone, “How was your day and what did you have for lunch?” This question is charming because when she asks, she adjusts the meal depending on what time of the day she is speaking to us.
Secondly, we ask, “Have there been any more emails about new cases of COVID-19 at school?”
Tonight the answer for Memorial was yes! Today’s email said there were three additional students who tested positive. Yesterday, our email said there were four additional students and one employee, a coach, who tested positive. The principal shared that she was “confident in the decision to pause and move to virtual instruction for this week.”
At this point, we think the number of cases of COVID-19 at Memorial is thirteen.
Prior to today, I had several emails from the principal:
9/20/2020 Instruction would be transitioning to virtual learning since there were six cases reported over the last eight days.
9/18/2020 Another student tested positive for COVID-19.
9/17/2020 A student tested positive.
9/15/2020 Another student tested positive.
9/12/2020 A student tested positive.
9/2/2020 A freshman tested positive.
At this point, there has only been one positive case at Signature School. That student has recovered and returned to school.
crazy times for sure
