Sunday was a family day for Bill and Mason. They left the hotel bright and early and met Rachel and Jerry at the Original Pancake House in Anaheim for breakfast. Bill had driven out to see Rachel and Jerry Friday night for dinner but they didn’t get to see Mason. It was really nice of them to schlep to Anaheim so early on a Sunday. Bill and Mason went off to Disneyland.
The jungle cruise guide was funny. He told a joke that Mason enjoyed:
Guide: Does anyone know what kind of snake that is over there? (He pointed to the shore.) It starts with a P.
Fellow passenger: A python?
Guide: Nope. Plastic anaconda.
Autopia was Mason’s favorite ride, he said, because it was a real car, meaning that if the car was taken off the track, it would have been free moving.
Splash Mountain must have been a welcome break since the day had record high temperatures.
Apparently, the line for the Star Tours: The Adventure Continues attraction was incredibly long and deceptive. Not only did it wind around a lot of blind curves, tricking Bill and Mason into thinking they were almost to the turnstiles for boarding, a large number of fast pass guests who were allowed to board ahead of them.
Some of the other noteworthy attractions on this trip were the Disney Railroad, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean. They stayed at Disneyland until late in the evening and returned to their hotel to zonk.
Before they checked out on this morning, they swam in the pool and played a few rousing games of table tennis. They picked up sandwiches for lunch on the plane from Togo’s (a favorite of Bill’s from our California days) and headed to the airport for the journey home. They almost missed their connection in Dallas but thankfully, they made it!
