Mason turned ten today!
He woke up with the birthday quilt on his bed and had his breakfast in bed. All four of us snuggled in his room while he opened presents.
I had to get creative and pull out some fabric to wrap the extra long box the hockey stick came in.
He also got new headphones and a big surprise of…
…a year’s worth of Loot Crate. He has gotten a few in the past and loves them. Every month he will receive a surprise assortment of geek and gaming gear. Each month is themed and they typically contain a T-shirt and an assortment of small items that match the theme.
He also received a wonderful assortment of Doctor Who merchandise, including several new shirts, a Doctor Who safe, Doctor Who Mad Libs and a Doctor Who key chain. He was over the moon.
Later that afternoon, his friends arrived for the party and sleepover.
Several arrived later due to other commitments but around the table are Martin (from the back), Mason, Seth, Andre and Cole. They played video games and watched TV before having cake.
He requested the Chocolate 4Ever cake and decorated it with cake toppers of his own making. He took that even a step further and made each guest a Perler bead creation customized to their interests which he gave as party favors. Those went over with flying colors!
A rousing rendition of Happy Birthday followed and then we sent them all outside to eat cake and play.
Gavin (in the green) showed up in time for cake and sat next to Martin (in the Nike shirt).
Davis and Walker joined Andre, Cole and the others on the play structure for cake. Then it was time for presents. Everyone gathered around. Mason got lots of very nice gifts from friends including a walking stick, gift cards, and a couple more T-shirts.
The last gift he opened was from us—an Amazon controller that works with our Fire. He was thrilled. Bill was the brainchild behind all the gifts.
Before the sun went down and all that energy came back inside, they started up a game of football.
It was a late night around here but everyone did eventually go to sleep and everyone was up bright and early before 6. We filled their bellies with waffles and fruit and let them play until their families picked them up.
Sunday was an easy going day after that as everyone needed to recover from Mason’s amazing birthday celebration.
The last thing to share in this exceptionally long birthday recap is the traditional picture in front of the birthday quilt. Don’t you love the “do I have to?” look.
This is the best I got and it’s good enough.
That’s a great wrap up. We want to know what’s in Mason’s hand in the last picture?
