Epiphany!

We celebrated Epiphany with sunshine in these parts, a welcome gift from the heavens.  Sunshine, however, was not the only reason to celebrate.  Monique and I made a decision years ago to have our kiddos exchange their Christmas gifts on the Feast of The Three Kings. It’s a wonderful tradition that alleviates a lot of stress and the kids all look forward to receiving at least one more gift at the end of the Christmas season. We typically order from Amazon, ship directly to the other’s house and then wrap for each other.  This year we added a new twist, emailing a PDF of inscribed gift tags to attach. Because of insane postal delays due to Covid, it was especially beneficial to go this route because Amazon was much more reliable that the USPS. We sent Frankie a cookbook, Camille a necklace, a glow in the dark Apple TV remote to share and each of them a hot chocolate bomb.

I connected with my Newburgh knitting group via Google Duo. This is the best way to be together since the Covid numbers are rising. It’s not as fun as sitting all in the same room, but it is nice not to have to commute anywhere. I knit on yet another charity hat.

Meanwhile, Bill had a 9 AM – 9 PM shift at the Covid clinic. His N95 mask is so secure and tight that he has divots in his face and on his neck from wearing the elastic straps all day.  I was so glad he was home by 8 PM tonight rather than 9. Regardless, he had such a long day!
