Goodbye November

It’s always hard to return to the regular schedule and early wake up after a long weekend so I eased into the morning with a cup of coffee and a little charity knitting.

It wasn’t long before the predicted snow arrived.  The light flakes gradually got thicker but none of it stuck for long. It provided the essence of winter and then it vanished. In the afternoon, I caught up on some of the regular Monday chores and had a power cleaning session in the boys’ rooms.  I mailed the Christmas hat and had a sweet exchange with the postal clerk about how her mother used to fall asleep crocheting.  These knitting in passing moments pop up because I often wait in lines with yarn and needles in my hands. I want to start recording them.

As a pleasant surprise, Bill’s shift at the Covid clinic ended early thanks to another physician volunteering to stay until 9 pm.  I had cooked a bunch of Misfits eggplant, peppers and onions with tomato a la ratatouille and we were able to have dinner together.

The last thing on my to do list was to complete a WIP for the end of month deadline. I had procrastinated fiercely and wasn’t sure if I could pull it off.  A quick peek in my WIP box presented this small green coffee cozy I had made years ago.  It never fit well but I didn’t want to discard it. I envisioned it as a little coin purse, had made a lining and then abandoned it.  When I revisited it today, I made a new lining, swapped out the zipper and finished it up with a label and a ribbon tag.  The lighting was terrible for good photos but this sufficed as proof that I completed my task. I actually love it more than ever.
