Gratitude Luncheon

Today the PTSA hosted a gratitude luncheon for the staff at St. John. We themed this luncheon with fall décor and gave it an Italian twist.

On our sign up genius, I asked this time for help wrapping the cutlery and with designing the tablescape. I tried to stress that the teachers and staff appreciate any detail that transforms the white plastic tables.  No one signed up but I ran into a mom at TJ Maxx when I was buying the napkins and she told me she thought had the perfect thing. She was right! I was so pleasantly surprised with how the table décor came out.

I left the details of what kinds of salads to bring open and again was pleasantly surprised with spinach salad, green salad and Caesar salad.

Our main entrees included Monique’s famous artichoke chicken, spaghetti and meatballs, meat lasagna, baked ziti, chicken spinach lasagna, and gorgonzola pasta.

One family delivered with an edible arrangement and we had fruit salad and a fabulously  prepared antipasto platter.

The desserts are always the first thing the teachers see and the thing they squeal about most.  Apple pie, cookies, death by chocolate, baklava, an Italian cream cake and chocolate chip cookies were the offerings.

The parent who made this cream cake always makes me smile. She is a kitchen wizard and loves to bake. I will always remember the first time I met her. She handed me a homemade cheesecake with the caveat that it had anything and everything that would be allergenic to anyone. Clearly, she is not afraid to bake with nuts and dairy.

We served lunch to three rounds of teachers.  I truly enjoyed planning this luncheon and pulling it together. My partner in crime, Liz, and I commented that it seemed to go together incredibly smoothing, making us truly grateful as well.

I didn’t see my favorite SJB teacher MJ!!! The spread looked divine!!! Way to go! (I think that there has been almost a complete turnover of staff since we were there….except Matt’s 1st grade teacher might still be there.)
