Shortly after check in on Sunday, the group of campers doing Surf Camp hit the road. They had a lot of driving ahead of them to make it to South Carolina. They camped the first night at Cumberland State Park in Tennessee and they had their opening campfire there.
They set up camp for the week at James Island County Park Campground in Charleston, South Carolina for the week.
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons they got to do kayaking and take stand up paddle board tours. One of those heads in all those pictures above is Walker.
There were seven campers (Colton, Gabby, Jerett, Dominic, Ian, Walker and Gary) and three counselors on this trip (Alex, Jess and Jake).
Kayaking was on Wednesday afternoon.
The sun was pretty intense there! They surfed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
These pictures were taken Wednesday on the pier.
This little guy shared the bathroom with Walker.
Thursday afternoon, the campers and counselors explored explored the beach from a different perspective and the city of Folly Beach. It looks like friendly place. See the pedestrian walk sign that issued a kind warning?
Walker loves that the camp bus looks so small next to the semis.
Friday, they left Charleston very early and drove straight back to camp. They had lunch and dinner on the road and pulled in late evening back at Ondessonk.
Ian, Jerett and Walker are all in our Boy Scout Troop and up until a few weeks ago, they were all at the same school. Since we did not go out to pick up Walker today, I was ever so glad that Jerett’s mom indulged me in a chance to lay eyes on our kiddo.
What an opportunity!
Glad Walker remembers how much I love frogs, but not necessarily the live ones.
