Mason is a budding chef. He likes to help in the kitchen and especially likes to make pumpkin pie. Cracking eggs is a skill that I recall practicing with my Oma, my mom’s mom, so I asked her if she would give some tips to Mason. We lined up in the kitchen and I started the pie prep.
I offer a disclaimer about my apron. It was a gift from Mason who chose it specifically because it bears the image of one of his favorite foods—the hot dog. I wear it proudly at home. We’ll leave it at that.
Look at those hands mastering the technique. Turns out, the trick is to emphasize using the thumbs to pull the egg shells apart after there is a crack in the egg. Once he got that concept down, he was a pro!
He added the final decorative touches to the pie crust with gusto.
After dinner the boys caught up on their Lego Advent calendars. We had gotten a bit behind with all of the December activities.
Love those hands in motion! Now it’s time to tuck into bed for a short nap before Midnight Mass and then a full day of Christmas festivities.
I want you to wear that apron when you do cafeteria duty. 🙂
Maria, that would be great! And I remember learning to crack eggs with Oma AND Mom too
Awh! Looks like so much fun. What a lovely thing your mom and Mason to share!
