The thing about life with the boys is that there is always something to keep us busy. Usually, it’s several somethings at the same time. Popcorn would be a good example of this. Saturday morning after Bill and the boys left to set up the camp out, I waited at home to receive our annual shipment of Show and Sell Cub Scout popcorn.
I’m sure the neighbors suspect we have a drinking problem when the Stella Artois truck backs up to unload at 9 AM. They need not know that one of our dads works for Budweiser. It’s better to keep everyone wondering.
The popcorn product in those neat piles gets sorted into kits for our cub scouts to pick up on Friday for the annual Blitz Weekend. Each one gets an assortment and off he goes. This year I have 41 scouts and 41 kits.
Half of the garage had the sorted bags of popping corn, caramel corn, caramel corn with pecans, almonds and cashews, white cheddar and jalapeno cheddar.
The other half had the microwavable boxes of unbelievable butter, butter light and kettle corn.
There is something about my mind that really enjoys this process and there is an even bigger part will enjoy being able to park the cars in the garage again. Thankfully, that will be the reality on Friday night if all goes well.
Soooo glad it is over. Best news is that the Boy Scout troop no longer sells popcorn, so we are done forever! ( the troop hosts Merit Badge University instead). Joel will move to Boy Scouts this spring….goodbye Cub scouts goodbye popcorn!
