Walker could not have been happier to spend the weekend out at Camp Ondessonk.
The sun shone so brightly at sunset but what was more remarkable was how different everything looked. The earth was starting to wake up from winter.
He was happy to learn that he was staying this weekend in Garnier because he is working toward sleeping in every unit at camp. (Garnier is traditionally a girls’ unit only available to boys during boys’ week or off season.) This was a work weekend for the lodge members. The goal was to help prepare for summer sessions and do general maintenance work around the camp.
Once we dropped Walker off, Mason and I headed home for one of his favorite kind weekends, the only child kind.
Saturday afternoon Mason had a run in with some storm troopers at the 2016 POP!CON, a gathering of fans of comic books and popular culture. Later than night, we had pizza and family movie night.
All in all, whether at camp or at home, it was the perfect lodge weekend for both kiddos.
