I’m pretty lucky to have such knit-worthy people in my life and one by one I am trying to warm them up. One of my special sisters celebrated a birthday in October and I chose that as the occasion for this custom order. I asked Mo if she would like something and if so, would she guide me toward picking the right thing for her.
She gave me some ideas and we talked about color, yarn and use.
She requested mitts in a tweedy color to match a coat and she likes cables. Trolling through Ravelry, I came up with an assortment of fingerless mitts and selected Parnassus by Molly Jane Wick.
I bought the yarn when I was in Phoenix. It’s Zara Chine, a 100% merino washable wool. It’s soft and springy and was a joy to work with.
I’m delighted with how they came out. I made them longer than the pattern suggested by adding extra ribbing before the cables started. It’s nice to have warm wrists when it’s cold outside.
The fingers are exposed and there is a thumb gusset.
Crossing the cables was a fun challenge and seeing them all ready to go was surely a delight.
I sent them off to Monique for a fun any day surprise or a very belated birthday gift depending on how you look at it. I got to watch her open them on Skype so I know that she loved them. That’s such a warm and snuggly feeling.
My niece made all the girls fingerless gloves for Christmas! Let’s just say….it was a lot of gloves!
How lovely!
They look fantastic! I bet she loves them!

I do love them! They were my favorite part of the cold weather we had this year!
