This little munchkin arrived with her mommy on our doorstep on Sunday night. Just like last time, we got to host her while Laynie went to her meeting in St. Louis.
Monday morning Laynie headed off bright and early. It was a good thing, too, because we had a full agenda.
First, she had lunch with the big kids at St. John. Sophia was a magnet for attention. She was very well behaved and didn’t insight the smallest of food fights. Mason’s fifth grade teacher remembered seeing her last year and commented how big she had gotten.
After lunch, Sophia and I picked up Walker and took him to lunch. He was home due to fall break.
We sent Laynie lots of selfies throughout the day.
Snack time snuggles—any snuggles, actually—were one of the highlights for Mason.
We wore her out on the first day.
She was up bright and early on Tuesday morning.
We went to the zoo, had dinner at O’Charleys and then went to Mason’s first speech meet. He placed fourth! Woohoo!
Wednesday was a more mellow day. Both kiddos were in school and Sophia and I just hung out.
She did go to knitting with me but she zonked almost the whole time in Melissa’s arms. I’m pretty sure she was gearing up for our drive out to pick up her mama. Thankfully, it was a much less eventful endeavor this time.
Thursday Laynie, Sophia and I went to cMoe in the morning and then returned home to make salad for lunch. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the children’s museum through pint-sized eyes. That afternoon we said goodbye to Mason and Bill and wished them well for their adventure in California this weekend and then met Walker for dinner at Gangham.
It was a beautiful day for zoo activities like feeding the giraffe, riding the new carousel and exploring the trails.
We had lunch at Mod Pizza and then took advantage of the gorgeous weather to go for a walk by the river. We even found a painted rock. Love sums up our visit.
Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye!
We’re going to miss this little munchkin.
Hurry back!
Is Laynie your niece? Sophia – great niece? or is she a cousin to the boys?
Laynie is my youngest sister and Sophia is her daughter. The boys love having another cousin and we all wish several states didn’t separate us.
