To culminate their studies this month, the two second grade classes came together and performed several short plays about American History. Mason had a role in Aunt Harriet’s Story. He was very much at ease in front of the group, respectful and reserved while he performed and waited.
As soon as his role was over and he was introduce, though, he hammed it up with a little dance and an exaggerated bow.
Mason also wrote a short summary about President James Madison. He has always had an affinity for Madison. He wrote:
President James Madison
by Mason Selby
President James Madison was born on March 16, 7151. (sic/typo) He would be 263 years old if he was here! Before he was president, he was a lawyer. Madison also served as a congress man and secretary of state. President Madison was our 4th president from 1809. He was a member of the republican party.
There is an app called Aurasma which allows us to scan the symbol and then see a clip of Mason talking about Madison. Once I figure that out, I will find a way to edit it in.
Mason, you are fabulous too!
Mason is such a character!

I love to hear how Mason’s mind works – my favorite part is knowing how old JM would be if he was alive today!
