It was a beautiful day for a family picnic with the scouts. It was our Summer Court of Honor. The Webelos families were invited to participate with the opening ceremony they did at their pack meeting. They actually outnumbered the boy scouts present.
There were a few merit badges to be presented to scouts.
Once again, the audience was incredibly reverent for the scout law.
Jerett, the Senior Patrol Leader, ran the meeting today. He invited the scouts that were present to share about summer and adventure camps. This was a great opportunity to hook the Webelos and foster enthusiasm for our troop.
Ian and Ben shared about their summer camp adventures. Because our troop has gotten so small, they travelled with another local troop to camp. They were well-received and had a great experience.
Brett shared about the high adventure camps like Sea Base and Northern Tier. These were extremes—one involves a week on a boat in Florida and the other is trek for at least two nights in the winter wilderness of Minnesota.
Ben spoke of his summer trip to Philmont in New Mexico. These treks involve two week stints hiking at various levels of intensity.
Captain D stepped up to present the awards.
We had a lot of families in attendance and it was really nice to share food and fellowship together.
Great time had by all.
