For Christmas Mason received two tickets to see Post Malone in concert at The Enterprise Center in St. Louis. He invited his friend, Grant, to come along. We left late-afternoon, picked up dinner for the boys on the way and dropped them off at the venue with plenty of time to spare.
We were early enough that the boys got to wait in line outside with the crowds and then go in and get settled with concessions. The seats were great, second tier, one row back.
Tyla Yaweh and Swae Lee opened for Post Malone. The boys enjoyed these rappers as the crowd warmed up. Mason said that the Tyla had a great stage presence. He even threw his jacket into the crowd.
Finally, Post himself came out. The best song he sang was Rockstar. When he sang Take What You Want, a collaboration with Ozzy Osbourne, he projected Ozzy’s face on the screen. Post closed the show with Congratulations, his most popular song. Periodically, we received updates and photos that the concert was going well. Mason was most impressed with the lighting and how everyone was having a good time.
Meanwhile, Bill and I ventured downtown for dinner at a Peruvian restaurant called Mango. The food at Mango was excellent. Elements of our meal reminded us of our travels to Peru’s neighbor, Ecuador.
We started with Ensalada Exótica—mixed greens with cilantro, roasted peppers, fresh mangos, & almonds with citrus dressing
and Solterito—quinoa, cherry tomatoes, fava beans, avocado, crispy potato, choclo, red onions, queso fresco, red pepper & apple cider vinaigrette.
Bill’s entre was Pescado a la Chorrillana—sautéed fish of the day topped with sweet onions & tomatoes finished with Peruvian black olives & sliced egg along side golden potatoes and rice
and mine was Saltado de Champinoñes—cremini, shiitake & oyster mushrooms, sweet onions & tomatoes sautéed in white wine-olive oil reduction and served with rice.
After dinner, we puttered around town killing time until the concert was over. We met the boys near the stadium and heard them buzzing about how much fun this—Mason’s first—concert was.
