Mason’s class just finished studying electricity. To bring the subject to life, he offered to bring in the Van De Graaf electrostatic generator that Walker made a few years ago. It had been stored in the attic and so Bill and the boys had to do a little bit of maintenance on it to get it to work. Mason prepared a small talk to describe the generator and how it worked and then gave everyone a chance to touch the wrench to the generator. Touching with metal gave everyone a mild shock.
The anticipation of the shock was quite impressive.
Afterwards, several placed their hands on the generator to see what would happen. For some, it was a hair raising experience. Mason was delighted to provide a share this project with his class.
There is a certain young man who has such an amazingly expressive face!
