The drive out to Camp Ondessonk always puts a smile on our faces but today, the joy ran even deeper. After many hours of work, it was time to deliver Walker’s Eagle Project. Our normal commute is about two hours but since Bill was hauling the trailer filled with precious cargo, we allowed more time. The camp director was so kind to meet us at 9 am. Fortunately, his commute was across the parking lot.
Bill adeptly backed the trailer in at St. Noel. It’s not easy to back up a trailer and even harder when a team of spectators is looking on.
Bill and Walker had quite the puzzle last night loading the chairs. After all that work, they didn’t want them to get damaged in transit nor did they want the paint to get scratched.
Ta da! We left a dozen chairs all lined up in their new home!
The back of one of the chairs bears a plaque identifying it as Walker’s project. He signed the bottom of all the others.
Walker showed Dan King, the camp director, his Eagle Project binder. He looked it over and then he signed in receipt of the chairs.
They all tested the chairs out and then Dan bid us adieu with a thanks and an invitation to go explore the camp grounds.
It’s always a treat to see how different camp is the seasons other than summer. We took note of the improvements they made along the way. The new handicraft shelter is in process as is the production of the slide in the mini campers’ village. We walked the camp loop and then jumped in the car headed for home.
What a lot of work and the job well done???
Well done! Also I wish that camp was closer to us…I understand why Walker wanted to his project to benefit the camp!
