Last night after driving Mason and a friend out to Camp Ondessonk for Fall Lodge Weekend, I drove out to spend time with Kim in St. Louis. I spent the night with her and her pooch. We got up early and went off to a great little coffee shop to knit and catch up. The light was beautiful at Fiddlehead Ferns Cafe and the pour-over coffee was a nice alternative to my usual café Americano.
While we chatted, I knit on the Ilene Bag with yarn from Auntie Renee’s stash. Then we headed off to the Strange Folks Festival at Carondelet Park in the Holly Hills Neighborhood. This event is touted as more than an indy craft festival. It features local art, music and food offerings and it is free! I have wanted to attend for years but it has always conflicted with the kickoff of Boy Scout popcorn sales.
The vendors spanned a lot of interests from pottery to art prints to jewelry and plenty in between. There was even one selling yarn. I used restraint but wanted to buy much more than I did.
I loved the bead art hanging from the branch in this booth. It gave me some inspiration for the future.
Kim found the animals, of course, at a local shelter’s booth.
We went to lunch at El Paisano Mexican Restaurant and then to Kim’s current local yarn shop called Knitorious. I browsed and Kim bought some yarn for washcloths. After a lovely afternoon, I headed home to spend the evening with Bill who is on call this weekend. I was eager to see him too! Tomorrow our family will be united after Fall Lodge Reunion. Yippee!
