Sunday Night Dinner

There has been a lot of work around these parts on Walker’s International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma and his college application essays.  To end the weekend on a high note, Bill and Walker decided to have some fun in the kitchen using a cookbook he got for his birthday.

They chose the Savory Tuna Burger with Sriracha Mayonnaise. The recipe said, “The vibrant mix of spices makes this burger one you’ll return to again and again.  It’s bright with ginger, cilantro, and garlic and stays juicy and tender whether grilled outdoors or on a grill pan on the stove.  We like serving it with a spicy-creamy sauce made from Sriracha, mayonnaise, ginger and soy sauce.”

Bill shopped at The Fresh Market to pick up tuna steaks and the other ingredients and the preparation unfolded from there. They steamed asparagus and sautéed a mushroom medley with onions to accompany the burger.  Cape Cod kettle potato chips were the final touch.

The burger met everyone’s approval and I sure enjoyed the opportunity to hand over the apron for dinner.  I hope we can work through more recipes over the next few months.
