Last year at the knitting retreat, I bonded with two lovely ladies whom I now refer to as my sweater sisters. We have a text chain and communicate almost daily. We were all looking forward to meeting again this year but due to illness, Paula, the hostess, had to cancel the retreat. Britni, Peggy and I decided not to let that deter us. We planned our own. (In the photo above, from left to right, it’s Bronwyn, Britni and Peggy next to me.)
We joked that the only things we needed in a destination were food and good lighting. We met in Champaign Urbana, Illinois and stayed at a comfortable hotel. We had two suites with adjoining rooms and we knit, laughed and talked all day for two solid days.
We reached out to another knitter, Bronwyn, who drove in to visit with us. We had lunch together and then went to Klose Knit.
This is my homage to Minnie Pearl. Actually, I am documenting this cloche because I may knit it in the future.
Restaurants visited this trip included Bangkok Thai & Pho 911 at 410 Green Street where I had that yummy green curry, Strawberry Market and Dos Reales.
The time went quickly as it does when good friends unite. I hope we can continue to make it an annual event official or not!
