Most people from this area think we are crazy when we tell them we have driven to Bloomington for dinner on a weeknight but for us, it’s perfectly normal and reasonable. We love the restaurants there and the two hour drive to get there is perfect for diving into deep conversation.
Tonight we sampled the fare at Oona. The menu is seasonally driven and the food was fresh, flavorful and well-prepared. We will definitely return here for another meal.
We started with spiced masala cashews and peanuts and an avocado stuffed with French lentils, walnuts, feta, currants and soft herbs.
Bill’s entrée was a daily special—a salmon salad with a mixture of greens, pepitas and a soft cooked egg on top.
I ordered an open-faced melt with allium, spinach, artichoke, parmesan, toast, lemon, celery and arugula salad. I rarely eat sandwiches, much less grilled cheese, so this was a rich treat.
We picked up Starbucks on our way out of town and headed back home. The sky opened up with rain and provided us with a lovely lightning show. It was once again good to spend quality time with Bill.
Crazy, adventurous, it’s all the same. 🙂
Maybe if/when Ben is at IU in a year, we can join you to combine a visit with him! 🙂
