The Knitting Retreat

I headed off for my second visit to Washington, IL for the Knitting Pipeline Retreat yesterday.  I was so excited to take my car on its first long trip.  Car play was one of the selling points of this vehicle and it was working well.

I left right after the kids got off to school and pulled over for lunch at a rest stop about an hour from Washington.  I remembered that the roadside offerings would not bring me as much joy as my own salad so I was glad I had packed it.

When I left home, I didn’t know what project I wanted to work on so I didn’t know which needles I would need.  I grabbed all the loose needles that needed to be sorted and decided deal with them when I arrived at my hotel.  I felt so satisfied to have reorganized them.

Late afternoon I headed to the church and found my sitting spot. I reconnected with my friend Peggy and met a new lady named Britni.  The festivities kicked off with a steeking demonstration.

This knitter cut her pullover sweater open and made it a cardigan.  I have not done this yet nor seen it in person.  It was eye opening!

I got to try on a sweater that I am considering knitting. I like the boxy shape.

This was our group.  We were only missing our fearless leader, Paula.

Paula was diagnosed with cancer and due to her treatment, she was unable to be in such a large group.  Her retreat cohorts, Sarah, Bronwyn and Molly, pulled off a great event.  I filled up my cup with fiber friend and headed back home tonight.
