The Little Bugger

I was back at the hospital again today because there was an open shift that needed to be filled. I had plans to bring cheer and smiles. I stopped at Starbucks for a birthday drink for Kelly, the head of the Covid vaccine clinic and I showed up with a wee gift in hand.  Kelly has always been very complimentary of my knitting, even bragging on me to others.  When I learned that her birthday was on Valentine’s Day, I decided to knit her something pandemic related. I searched patterns and found one that a friend had knit multiple times. When I asked her for her feedback, she not only gave me the encouragement to make it too, she gifted me the pattern. So that was the start of the good mojo that this little corona virus carries.

I have to say that this guy was a little bugger to knit because it was so fiddly BUT because I was so excited to make it for Kelly, it was worth it. I finished it late last night and snapped these pictures quickly before I walked into the hospital. Kelly was tickled pink with her little virus and knew immediately what it was. (Phew!) She even told me she was going to put it on display.

My job as a greeter kept me busy.  I happily wore my new shirt which garnered many compliments.

I was also excited to see several familiar faces. Fran is my buddy Maria’s mom. Since Maria is so good about taking pictures for me of my kids at events, I repaid the favor. (I didn’t include them here, but I snapped a few of Fran getting her vaccine.)

On the family front, Mason had yet another day of virtual learning but Walker went to school in person, just on a two hour delay. Bill worked at the Covid clinic where things have been slowing down.

We celebrated the weekend with our first fish fry dinner. Although the pandemic has changed the experience because we cannot gather for the meal, the church ministry continues with a drive up option. Every dinner comes with grilled or fried fish, prepackaged weekly sides, and a very nominal $10 price tag.

Finally, when I went to bed I got an alert from Facebook that Kelly had posted.  Be still my heart.  The feeling is mutual.

Having worked and been fed, let’s bring on the weekend.
